Mortgage payment as % of income
What this number means, its source and the limits of using it.
Guide updated · Source dates are shown in the app
Say you buy the area’s typical home using the default mortgage assumptions. This compares the modeled annual payment, property tax and insurance with typical household income. Missing income leaves it blank.
Reading the number
Group: Buying. Units: Percent. Read the selected geography and compare the same measure at the same level.
Default mortgage inputs: 20% down, 6.5% annual interest, 30 years. These are assumptions, not a loan offer.
Source and date
Calculated from the home and area inputs. Expected interval: about 30 days. This is a schedule, not proof that a refresh succeeded.
A guide update is not a data refresh. The source period and collection date, when available, are on the app’s data details. A missing date is unknown, never today. Check freshness.
Access and limits
Free and above by default. The app’s current lock is authoritative if settings change. Derived measures also need their input measures open. A missing number is not zero. What each plan shows.
